A Prairie Home Companion from June 20

Here’s the show Mrs. M and I got to see.  It was excellent.

Onto Prairie Home Companion

At the bottom of the 6th (Indians 7, Cubs, 2), the Cubs game was good.  We’d gotten to see Wrigley Field and stimulate the economy by buying over priced Cubs apparel.  By the end of the 10th, it was one of the best baseball games I’d ever seen.  The rally started in the 8th with four runs bringing the Cubbies within 1, and then a Derrek Lee home run in the bottom of the ninth evened the score with the game winning run coming in the bottom of the ninth.

Great game.

Now today, Mrs. M and I head to the Ravinia Festival to see Garrison Keillor and cast perform on Prairie Home Companion.  I’ve been a fan since the late nineties when I found myself driving around North Carolina for the Jaycees or back from WV after visiting family.  It’s a old time show with performers and sketch comedy.

The Ravinia Festival looks fun.  Here’s their write-up:

Since 1904, Ravinia has been Chicago’s “sound of summer,” a place where you can meet up with your friends, have a wonderful time and hear some of the greatest music in the world. We’ve got stars on the stage and stars in the sky, and it’s all within your reach. But there’s more to Ravinia than merely the world’s greatest music. For as many people who walk through Ravinia’s gate each summer, there are just as many ways to enjoy what we call “The Ravinia Experience.”

Time to get ready for our trip to Lake Wobegon.

Heading to Chicago for the Weekend

Mrs. M and I are off to the windy city this weekend for a little R &R.  Tomorrow afternoon a Cubs game at Wrigley Field and then on Saturday we get to see Garrison Keillor perform Prairie Home Companion at the Ravinia Festival.

I’ve been a fan of Prairie Home Companion since I was running around North Carolina with the Jaycees.

Time to pack up the computer and get going.

Upgraded Blog to Wordpress 2.8

I’ve been putting off doing an upgrade to this blog for quite a while, but finally took the plung.  Old version 2.3 is out and the new snazzy 2.8 Wordpress is now in.

It’s been a good IT day for me.  Windows 7 is now running on my Media Center (dual boot), my Blackberry SIM card issue was resolved and old World Sojourner has a new engine.

Now, hopefully when I post using Chrome everything is formatted correctly.
