Financial Times: London Business School MBA ranked 2nd in world

London_Business_School_logo Congratulations London Business School!!!! We just received this note from the school:

Dear MBA alumni,

As many of you will have seen in today’s Financial Times, our MBA programme was ranked second in the world and first in Europe. We moved up three positions compared to last year’s ranking.

The report highlighted:

- the graduating class’ employment record: 96% of our 2007 graduating class accepted job offers within three months of graduation and reported a 126% increase in their pre-MBA salary.

<lucky they bring some of us charity type folks in, huh?>

- the global nature of the School: the proportions of international faculty (83%) and international students (90%) were the highest among the top five schools.

- the quality of our research: our research ranking increased by eight places to number three in the world.

This strong result is testament to our very talented students and alumni, as well as the dedicated work of our faculty and staff, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support in building the success of the programme, from interviewing prospective candidates, to recruiting graduating students.

Our commitment is to continue to strive to develop strong business leaders who will have a positive impact on business worldwide. While we acknowledge the importance of rankings like these, our focus remains on our Vision to become the pre-eminent global business school.

It’s as if he’s on my project … :)

Weekend

Mrs. M and I spent most of yesterday looking at houses and eating Australian pies.  Well, at least the first part of that was a joint effort, but for the second we went separate ways - while she enjoyed what is apparently some pretty authentic Australian cuisine at a local pub - called Down Under- I enjoyed some artery hardening fried chicken strips and some french fries.  mmm, mmm good.

All in all a good weekend.  We actually found a nice house that is within our budget.  This is a nice first step since over the last couple weeks haven’t been overly productive.  Our house viewing’s fell in two buckets.

The first bucket could be summed up as nice neighborhood; house was really odd.  And small.  May have to keep stuff in the back of the ‘Z’ small.

But, the second bucket was really nice house; neighborhood required ’skills’.  They were the types of areas that required I buy a rocking chair so I can keep a trained gun eye on everything not nailed down during the evening.  This would lessen our need for a quiet place, however.

Our Saturday viewing seemed to be both nice on the inside and on the outside. Oh, and it fit within our little budget.   Happy dance.

We now have to address some larger questions before making the final decision.  Do we want to live this far away from downtown, uptown, the center of Dallas in case one or both of us end up commuting that far each day?  Does it really fit into our budget?  Lots of rough numbers on envelops right now.  Is the house held together with termites & bubble gum?  Who should finance our castle?

The ‘Can we get financing?’ question has already been addressed.  This seemed like a good starting place before looking at homes.

Today, my attention changes completely from house and food to campaign, organization, and well, probably food.  The last one being sustenance and all.

Now, if I could keep all the muscles in my neck from cramping or pulling I would be all set.  Right now, I can barely move my neck.

Well, time to do my weekly review, get a cup of coffee and some more pain killers.  Mind you, these aren’t the good pain killers (that cause visions or ‘comfortably numb type imagery’); just good old fashioned aspirin.  But, right now they’re happy pills to me.

No snarky remarks about how the administration seems to be pining for the good old days; or …

Just a chance to watch old school wVu football and listen to one of the greatest announcers of all time.  And listen to some timeless funk.
