Funny how the time flies. Well not funny; kind of scary to be quite honest because my exam for Spanish is in two days. It´s no secret that my first year of Spanish was overly difficult, but I didn´t expect to have forgotten nearly everything from last year. But, I did.
The last three weeks have been pretty difficult but I´ve improved considerably. Is it enough to pass the exam and continue to the next level with my classmates? I´m not certain but I do know that within 10 weeks I will have completed level two – with or without the London Business School classes. I need more time for vocabulary and getting a command of the words but that will come in some time.
Time to go to the gym, then home to study for another night. I´ve made my peace with this thing, now it´s time to perform.

After class today, I´m off to Cancun for two days. It´s a quick but much needed break. Then one more week of class before I finally get to return home.

Today, Mexico turns 196 years old. Thanks to my travels I get to celebrate another country’s founding in its capital city. I’m staying in a good little hotel downtown for a little R & R. A little sun, pool, gym and Spanish TV to recharge the batteries before heading back into intensive study land tomorrow afternoon.
I’m going to a new host family next week. The first one was nice but they were never around to speak with; combine that with 6 giant dogs which wanted to rip my arm off every time I went to my room and a change was in order. The family was nice; just not a good fit.
A few days ago I sent an email to the London Business School community asking if anyone was in Mexico City over the next three weeks. And to me this is amazing; within three hours I had three responses from alumni asking if I wanted to come to our global Alumni celebration on September 28th. It is two days before I leave and should be a great finale to the trip.
Time to catch up on WVU football before heading back to the hotel. 3-0 and ranked #5 in the nation. Not too bad.

Another quick post at the ye´old Internet Cafe. This is a clip from my email with Alissa earlier, but sums up my feelings right now.
Today was much better in class. I’ve crossed over from content with slow progress to angry that I haven’t progressed more. I’m not upset with the school or teacher, just myself. It’s the best place for me to be because it’s the mindset that allows me to push forward and push hard.
My mood right now is similar to when a friend made fun of me for not doing well in golf. That pushed me to practice and practice some more. I improved because there was no choice but to get better. It´s the same feeling here.
Tonight and this weekend will be important for my progress because apparently next week they’re going to push me much, much harder. At this point, all I can say is bring it on.
¡adios!
