What Strategy would you use?

So let’s say you are your everyday Internet company selling holiday’s to English folks wanting to skiing? What would you do?

Personally, I’d sell the Internet company and reinvest the money into a US baseball team in China but that’s been my default answer to every strategy case.

It’s a tough moment in life when the most interesting thing for the entire day is a small discussion on a strategy final. How sad.

Here’s an interesting email - it’s a vote on who should be the basketball captain for the team going to the MBAT (MBA Tournament). I completely forgot about signing up to play and ticking the ‘interested in captaining’ box. Had to tick my name for captain, hell, it’s not like I haven’t paid a pretty big price for one basketball game.

Well considering my ankle, it’s not like I really lost a step from the injury. I was always pretty slow without much of a vertical. Of course, there was a point where I went down stairs as quickly as going up them.

Time to develop more strategy.

Broken Portal

Yana Drapkina broke the London Business School Portal. :( Well not really but it was a chance to post Yana’s name on my blog.

Merging 2 Outlooks

One of the biggest frustrations I’ve encountered since getting my second laptop is trying to sync my two Outlooks. E-mail isn’t the problem because I’ve been using IMAP for years but everything else has been a pain.

I think I’ve found a good solution. Plaxo, free CRM software, now offers the ability to sync the Outlook calendar, notes and task list. The verdict is still out on its stability but so far both computers are running nicely. A few years ago Plaxo would really make a computer unstable but right now that doesn’t seem to be the case.

The second issue is how to handle duplicate emails, contacts, etc. Found a great little utility called Outlook Contacts Scrubber. It goes through your contact folder in Outlook looking for duplicate names, then puts them side by side allowing one to be merged to another. Once that is complete, the unused one is deleted. It worked pretty well for me.
