Got an email today from the London Business School and they have granted me an interview for their 2005-2007 class! It’s only part 1 of 2 for admission but I’ve cleared the first hurdle. Yeha!
Time to start gearing up for the interview. I know a couple grads so hopefully they will be able to give me a little insight.
Alissa and I went to see The Producers Friday night. What a play! The writing and humor good and crisp. We were fortunate because the guy who played Max Bailystock, Nathan Lane, decided to do the production in London as well. He was very good. Richard Dreyfuss was originally cast in the part but withdrew.
The thing that struck me most about the play was the humor. Instead of the ‘in your face’ approach of today where nothing is left to the imagination The Producers used the old tactics like running jokes, innuendo and lots of assumptions. It was definitely not politically correct but it never crossed the line to being mean. It was a sophisticated (but not too much because I still understood it) approach to making people laugh and think.
It’s a shame more of us don’t work to make people think more than we put things right in their face. Will there ever be a time when the world chooses to say less and mean more?
